I'm a firm believer in the benefits of sport and fitness. Sport develops self-confidence, teaches you how to be part of team, and keeps you healthy! What could be better than that? I've been involved in sports for my whole life. I started off playing soccer, then moved to fastball where I was lucky enough to attend the Alberta Summer Games and won a few city titles. In Junior High I played on every team that I could - volleyball, basketball, badminton, track & field, etc. In High School I was on the field hockey team in grade 10, but then started rowing and stuck with that for the next few years. I rowed competitively for three years, then coached for a few more. I still think rowing is a great sport, but I have become a bit less than enthusiastic about it over the last few years as I've seen the effects politics and screwed-up priorities can have on a club. But I digress..... After leaving rowing, I took up Dragon Boating and outrigger paddling which I absolutely fell in love with. I raced for two seasons in Calgary and since moving to Montreal have been looking to buy myself a boat so I can start paddling again out here. Below are some pictures from various paddling competitions over the last couple of years. |

Growing up in Calgary, Alberta, Canada - it's tough NOT to love the outdoors. The Rocky Mountains are a mere hours drive away and offer a multitude of activities from hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, climbing and paddling in the summer, to cross country skiing, telemark skiing, and snowshoeing in the winter. I tried to get out to the mountains every weekend when I was living in Calgary to recharge the batteries before the work week began anew! Now that I live in Montreal, I'm having to explore a new range of outdoor activities. To see some pics from my adventures in Quebec, go here >>> Here are some pictures of some adventures near Calgary: |
